Service Alert (19-Dec-2019 : 10:22AM): We have been able to recover the data from the failed hard drives on the server. This means that all services are now back up and running. However, the server is still in the process of balancing the data load across all drives in the new Disk array. We are expecting for all services to be back up to normal speed by end of today.


 

Service Alert: We are aware that our service for most Website Hosting clients and all Email Hosting clients is offline at the moment. We are working to get these services back online ASAP. More updates to come.


 

In case you missed it; below is an email that we sent out on the 17/12/19. Thank you to those of you who have reached out to discuss this with us. Because of your feedback and concerns we are reviewing some of the details and dates mentioned below. We will update this website and email you again with further details as soon as we have finalised the options.


Three years ago we informed you that SimpleHost merged with The Web Co in order to be able to continue to offer you the best service possible. The time has now come for us to upgrade you to our Host Pro or Host Pro Plus managed hosting packages through The Web Co.

The SimpleHost packages do not allow us to sustain the quality and reliability of service we are known for and will be discontinued for the following reasons:

  1. The pricing structures do not allow for infrastructure development and maintenance and the server has now come to the end of its effective life.
  2. Servers that have reached their "end of life" obstruct our commitment to business-grade product and service delivery across all of The Web Co Group's product lines.

This change affects all SimpleHost services:

  • Web Hosting
  • Email Hosting
  • Domain Name Hosting (DNS Hosting)

Change isn't always easy and we acknowledge that the upgrade has a cost implication for you - one we've avoided for as long as we could. Before any changes are made in our business, particularly where it impacts our customers, we carefully consider the relationship between cost and value. Your service needs and evolving requirements, catered for at a price that is of fair value, are our priorities.

The Web Co hosting packages offer the stability, security and speed that are essential for your online business. However, we do understand that you may choose to move to an alternative hosting provider. If you are currently paying annually, we will refund the remainder of the subscription you have paid in advance. Important Dates

20 December 2019 
We will start migrating services from SimpleHost to The Web Co servers and packages immediately. For the stability of your website and email, we highly recommend you confirm with us if you wish to upgrade to The Web Co's Host Pro or Host Pro Plus package as soon as possible so you are first in the queue to be migrated.

13 January 2020
All remaining SimpleHost packages will be upgraded automatically to the relevant The Web Co Hosting package.

1 February 2020 
The migration of all SimpleHost services to The Web Co servers will be complete and the SimpleHost server will be shut down.

 

Questions you may have

Q: What will I be paying for the new package?

Q: Will all of my emails that are on the SimpleHost server be moved to The Web Co server.
A: Unfortunately not. You will need to download any emails you wish to keep, to your computer. You will also need to change the connection protocol from IMAP to POP3 so that any emails you receive before your services are migrated are secure on your device.

First, verify that you are using POP3 connection. If not, please see the following link for the settings to switch to a POP connection.


It is also important to note that unlimited email storage was a free service with your SimpleHost plan. To ensure that The Web Co servers remain stable, we can no longer offer this service as all of The Web Co's hosting plans come with a fixed storage limit. If you require, we can assist you in maintaining a healthy email storage and archival policy.


Q: My site is built with Ruby. Can I host on The Web Co servers?
A: Yes. Please contact us for specific details and pricing.


Q: I usually pay my yearly subscription upfront. What happens now?
A: As a customer paying annually, you would have paid your 12 months' subscription in advance. On 1st February 2020, we will credit/refund you for the remaining months and will re-invoice you at the increased rate of $29.95 per month. There's no action for you to take. We'll make the switch.
